Perplexity is the most retrieval-driven of the major answer engines: it cites more, cites sooner, and leans hard on recency. It also runs its own index — so neither your Google nor your Bing status decides this one.

To get cited by Perplexity, let PerplexityBot crawl you and publish fresh, factual, well-structured pages. Perplexity maintains its own crawler and its own index, so being in Google or Bing does not put you in Perplexity. It is heavily recency-weighted — a page updated this month outranks an identical page from last year — and it is the most citation-dense engine, which means more slots and a genuinely better chance for a smaller business.
PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User in robots.txt. This is the whole ballgame. If they cannot crawl you, you are not in the index and you cannot be cited.Perplexity cites more sources per answer than the other engines, and it is not gated behind a giant incumbent index. If you are starting from zero, it is a reasonable engine to test first — though we make no claim about where or whether your name will appear.
Schema markup, clean HTML and a fast site make you readable once an engine arrives. They do not make you findable. Findability is decided by its own index — and if you are not in it, none of the on-page work can help you. Fix the index first. Everything else is downstream.

Get AI Cited (getaicited.ai) is a Dubai-licensed AI-visibility service (Get AI Cited Technology, DET licence 1635658). We do not guarantee rankings or citations — AI answers are controlled by the engines and change day to day. What we commit to is a published method, multi-run measurement and dated logs.
Allow PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User in your robots.txt, publish factual pages structured for extraction, and update them often — Perplexity is heavily recency-weighted. It runs its own crawler and index, so your Google or Bing status does not decide this one.
Perplexity primarily uses its own native index built by its own crawler. That is why a site can be well indexed on Google and still not be cited by Perplexity.
It is the most citation-dense of the major engines — it names more sources per answer — and it weights recency heavily, which favours newer and frequently updated pages over established incumbents.
Fact-dense, well-structured, recent content. It extracts specific claims and attributes them, so numbers, dates, named entities and clearly-worded factual sentences are cited far more readily than marketing prose.
